CSC present for sale this fantastic Ninemeister 9m11RS based on a 1981 SC 3.0 Coupe. Completed for one of their valued customers in 2016, this stunning RS Homage was the end result of a long and costly restoration & backdate project to create a fun to drive air cooled 911 with classic RS looks.

The owner of this 1981 911 SC coupe approached Ninemeister around 4 years ago with a list of jobs to tidy up the cars appearance, however on carrying out a full assessment of the car, they found that the SC was actually in need of some fairly substantial restoration work due to the common issue of inner panel corrosion.

This was a turning point for the car and the decision was made to give the car a restoration and re-birth as an enjoyable and useable 73 RS Homage and so work began with the body shell being stripped back to the bare metal and all the various areas of corrosion that can hide unseen in a 911 body shell being dealt with.

Original RS body panels were sourced for the car to undertake a full body restoration including steel wings, hood, quarter panels, inner wings, front panel, sills, inner sills & kidney bowls. In the process, the shell was seam welded to 9m11RS specification and the sunroof was deleted with the use of an original factory roof panel.
With the body work completed along with a lightweight ‘Duck Tail’ engine lid to complete the RS look, the car was finished in a custom shade of 1973 Porsche Birch Green. A set of original Fuchs alloy wheels were sourced and re-finished in RS two-tone specification, and fitted with Bridgestone S-02 tyres.

Inside, the car was kept practical whilst carrying on with the RS theme with a light-weight carpet set. RS style door cards and centre console delete. Classic style Cobra reclining seats finished in half leather look the part whilst remaining comfortable for long distance driving and the SC rear seats having been trimmed to match remain in the rear.

The period Momo Prototipo steering wheel completes the look and adds a real classic feel to the driving experience whilst the electric windows remain again for simplicity and practicality.

The car retains its original transmission which was subject to a full rebuild to 9m specification to ensure the best possible the shift from the ‘915’ 5 speed gearbox whilst a lightweight flywheel and clutch provide the per-fect response to heel and toe downshifts.

In order to enhance the driving experience, the braking system was overhauled and new Bilstein Club Sport specification suspension fitted along with renewed bushes and engine mounts. The 3.0 litre engine was checked and received a number of Ninemeister improvements which, together with the two into one exhaust system, gave a power output of 225bhp.

On the road the car drives beautifully well. The engine idles smoothly and pulls eagerly in each gear when revved. The steering feels light but taught with excellent feedback and braking feels confidence inspiring and smooth. Perhaps the biggest surprise however is the rebuilt transmission. The clutch is light whilst gear selection feels unusually positive and engaging for a 915 gearbox which certainly isn’t the norm, to the point where it’s actually a joy to use and feels very much in keeping with the cars personality.
