DESCRIPTION:
CSC are excited to offer for sale this stunning and highly collectable manual Gen 1, Mezger 997 turbo coupe with just 40,000 miles from new. Presented in stunning Atlas Grey with complementing Ocean Blue leather interior this car is in superb condition throughout and comes with a full Porsche and Specialist service history.
Following the 997’s launch in 2004, the turbo debuted at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show with an engine based on the 911 GT1’s design, using 2 Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) turbo chargers and offering 473bhp. The optional ‘Sport Chrono’ package would also allow a 10 second ‘over-boost’ from 1.0 bar to 1.2 bar increasing peak torque over a narrow RPM range. The torque was managed by Porsche’s Traction Management (PTM) system in conjunction with Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system. Gearbox options were 6 speed manual or 5 speed tiptronic S transmission.
Performance was impressive with official figures claiming the manual 997 turbo could accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and on to 124mph in 12.8 seconds and could achieve a top speed of 193mph.
These 997 Gen 1 turbos were the last 911 turbo to use the hugely reliable and race proven mezger engine block with its provenance dating back to the air cooled era and which went on to great success in the 911 GT1 race car of 1996. The mezger engine did live on for the remainder of 997 production in the GT3 model.
This particular example comes with very sensible mileage and a very nice specification. The Atlas Grey paintwork presents beautifully with no major marks or blemishes and the diamond cut turbo alloy wheels are in excellent condition.
Internally this turbo features Porsche’s fantastic hard back sports seats with 2 way electrical adjustment and seat heating. The immaculate interior is trimmed in complementing Ocean Blue leather featuring Porsche crest embossed headrests and a body coloured centre console.
The ‘turbo’ branded instrument gauge faces are finished in silver with the dash trim and sports seat backs finished in satin titanium. The headlining is trimmed in dark grey Alcantara and the Ocean Blue carpet is protected by factory fitted mats.
This car was ordered with a few choice options including Sports Seats, PCM, BOSE, and the Sport Chrono Plus package for enhanced performance. It was also thankfully ordered with the 6 speed manual transmission which has now become highly desirable in driver focused Porsche models.
As you would expect, on the road the car drives faultlessly and offers all the performance anyone could realistically need on any occasion with the added security of all wheel drive. The option 16 way Adaptive Sports Seats offer high levels of adjustment for those longer journeys and are also electrically heated.
