After many years of Porsche holding back the Cayman’s mid-engine capabilities in order to protect and justify the 911’s higher price and image, the Cayman GT4, a high performance and track focused version similar in principle to the well-established and hugely capable 911 GT3 was finally launched in 2015, based on the then ‘next generation’ 981 model.

With a limited production run of 2500 units, The GT4 designed in part by Porsches motorsport division in Weissach, came with the 3.8 flat six engine from the 911 Carrera S with a power increase to 380bhp, driven through a 6 speed manual gear box and utilised many chassis components from the GT3.

The motorsport heritage and performance biased theme of the car is clear at first glance with the car’s aggressive stance and styling which is not just for show. The large low front splitter and fixed rear wing are designed to increase high speed stability and handling whilst the larger side intakes ensure sufficient air gets through to the 3.8 litre, mid-mounted engine. Lowered suspension utilising many GT3 components and larger brakes (with Carbon Ceramic option) added further precision, composure and performance to the package to produce a driver focused experience.

The ‘GT’ theme continued inside the car with optional Sports Bucket seats and an interior trimmed in vast amounts of Alcantara with hints of ‘RS’ style weight saving such as the fabric door pulls in place of the traditional handles. It is the perfectly formed and sized Steering Wheel and high mounted manual Gear Lever which dominate the compact cabin and remind you what this car is all about…………Driving!

This particular example is finished in Porsches superb GT Silver which suits the car perfectly and is complimented by the satin gun-metal finished alloy wheels and black centre Racing Stripe. The optional yellow painted Carbon Ceramic brake option adds a nice touch of contrasting colour which is nicely matched on the inside with optional Racing yellow seat belts and stitching inside the cabin.

The car comes with some well thought out driver focused options which complete the GT4 experience perfectly. Carbon bucket seats finished in leather and alcantara are a must have for these cars and add a huge amount to the driving experience.
